Bruise is also known as contusion. It is caused by a damage tissue due to injury. The affected area becomes discolored due to the leakage of blood from an injured blood vessel into the tissues. At the beginning of bruise, usually it is bluish or blackish then may become pink and red as it heals. Sometimes bruising can be caused by simple bumps in our daily routine. Minor bruises have no serious effect on your health and require no treatment. It becomes significant only when they are infected by bacteria. For minor bruises apply something cold. Because when you cool the blood vessel around the affected area, less blood leaks into the surrounding tissue. Major bruises may require surgical treatment and usage of antibiotics. The time it takes for a bruise to disappear depends on the severity. Minor bruise last for days and large bruises may take months to completely be absorbed by the tissue and disappear.
